Our annual study “resources SAVED by recycling” shows: Recycling relieves the environment to a considerable extent – and makes an important contribution to securing raw materials. Valid figures are a key factor in demonstrating the benefits of recycling to support the circular transformation of the economy. In cooperation with Fraunhofer UMSICHT, we therefore prepare a comprehensive life cycle assessment every year. It makes it possible to precisely quantify the savings in resources and greenhouse gas emissions.

In 2023 alone, Interzero saved over 11.1 million tons of primary raw materials in Germany, Austria, Poland, Italy and Slovenia by recycling around 2.45 million tons of recyclable materials . This corresponds to the raw materials that around 28.6 million EU citizens use in one year through textile consumption. In addition, the emission of around 1.2 million tons of greenhouse gases was avoided – this corresponds to the annual _CO2 emissions caused by 4.5 million EU citizens through textile consumption .
