FAQ

The legislator has grouped the “obligated parties” under the term “manufacturer”. Accordingly, a producer within the meaning of the WEEE Ordinance is one who produces electrical and electronic equipment:

  • manufactures and sells under its brand name (manufacturer).
  • resells under its brand name – unless the manufacturer’s brand name is affixed to the device in accordance with a) (dealer, distributor, marketer).
  • imports goods into Austria on a commercial basis (importer).
  • exports commercially for supply to final consumers (exporter).

All obligated parties must ensure that the electrical equipment they put into circulation is taken back and treated or recycled in accordance with the ordinance.

Collection and recycling of waste electrical equipment made easy – with Interzero Austria

Transfer your take-back and recovery obligations under the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Ordinance in Austria to Interzero Austria and thus benefit from our many years of experience.

Anyone who puts electrical equipment into circulation in Austria or imports it into Austria for the purpose of their own activities (distributor) is also responsible for ensuring that the WEEE is collected, recycled or sent for treatment in Austria. This is what the legislator has prescribed in the Ordinance on Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (EAG-VO). In this context, the legislator has grouped the “obligated parties” under the term “manufacturer”.

Accordingly, a producer within the meaning of the WEEE Ordinance is anyone who manufactures and sells electrical and electronic equipment:
    a) under their own brand name (producer)
    b) under their own brand name – unless the producer’s brand name is used in accordance with a) is affixed to the device (dealer, distributor, distributor)
    c) imports the device into Austria for commercial purposes (importer)
    d) exports the device for commercial purposes for sale to end consumers (exporter)

All obligated parties must ensure that the electrical appliances they put into circulation (large appliances, small electrical appliances, refrigerators and freezers, display screen and picture tube equipment, gas discharge lamps, dual-use equipment) are taken back and treated or recycled in accordance with the ordinance. Interzero Austria, as a household and commercial system, assumes for you the obligations arising from the Waste Electrical Equipment Ordinance for the electrical equipment you place on the market.

Your advantages with Interzero Austria are manifold! You get individually tailored services from a single source and benefit from our many years of expertise in the collection of waste electrical equipment from industry, households and commerce. Via our online portal, you can easily and securely report your quantities placed on the market at any time and view your “WEEE account”. By using regional busbars and bundling disposal operations, we can organize the obligations arising from the WEEE Ordinance in Austria for you at low cost. No matter where and how you market your electrical appliances – we collect the old electrical appliances throughout Austria from municipal and district collection points, dealers and distributors. The Interzero Group is the only provider in Europe that organizes the collection and treatment of waste electrical and electronic equipment, batteries and packaging across national borders.

Incidentally, with the 2014 amendment to the WEEE Ordinance, foreign manufacturers also have the option and foreign distance sellers the obligation to appoint an WEEE agent to fulfill their obligations. Interzero is also happy to take on this function.
