Our annual study “resources SAVED by recycling” shows: Recycling relieves the environment to a considerable extent – and makes an important contribution to securing raw materials. Valid figures are a key factor in demonstrating the benefits of recycling to support the circular transformation of the economy. In cooperation with Fraunhofer UMSICHT, we therefore prepare a comprehensive life cycle assessment every year. It makes it possible to precisely quantify the savings in resources and greenhouse gas emissions. According to the report, Interzero saved more than 12.5 million tons of primary raw materials in Germany, Austria, Poland, Italy and Slovenia in 2021 alone by recycling around 1.8 million tons of recyclable materials. At the same time, around 1 million metric tons of greenhouse gases were saved.
